The coffee ai video trend, explained
The coffee ai video trend is a 14–15-second AI skit in which two people calmly make coffee at a kitchen counter, miss the mug twice and flood the counter with milk. It spread on TikTok in late October 2026 as a CapCut template and as tutorial videos. Make yours from your own photos.
What the trend is
One fixed camera looks at a kitchen counter with a red mug. The person in front lifts a spoon of coffee with total focus and drops it beside the mug. The person behind pours from a kettle with the same calm. A second spoonful misses too, they look at each other, and a big jug of milk tips over the counter. At the end the empty mug is lifted anyway. The full beat sheet is on the home page, and the other names for it are Cofi trend, coffee fail and funny coffee.
Who made the first one is unknown. No creator has been shown to be the origin, so this page does not credit one, and any story that does is a guess.
Timeline
| When | What happened |
|---|---|
| Before about 2026-10-28 | Origin unknown. We found no clip we could show to be the first. |

| 2026-11-01 | Our sample shows the most-played clip at about 1.8 million plays. Portuguese and Spanish tutorials ("plantilla de café") are among the most active, alongside English and South Asian remixes. |
The plays figure comes from a sample of TikTok on one day, not a full count, and it will be out of date quickly.
Why it spread
The skit is easy to read with the sound off: a spoon, a miss, a flood. It has a clear last beat, the confident sip from an empty mug, so it works as a punchline. It also makes people want to tag someone, which is how a template travels. Templates made it easy to swap in your own faces, and people remixed it in other kitchens and art styles. For ideas on who to tag, see funny coffee captions, and for the two-person version see couple coffee.
